This is Our Public Spiriting
Welcome to the club of quiet voids.
This week I found myself texting with a friend about the dichotomous desires inherent in being online. We want to share and express, in the hope that it’s helpful, or it moves something. But conscious that I’m also contributing to the ever-expanding noise of the content machine.
I joked that what I’d really like to invent is a social media platform that’s just a quiet void.
Then it occurred to me that perhaps this already exists... in Club Med. When I was thinking about what to call that group my first descriptor was ‘a secular séance’. It felt a little too TikTok-witch to use that, but that’s essentially what it is.
Community, from commūnitās, means ‘public spirit’ in Latin. I love that word, commūnitās. It stems from commūnis, which is ‘common’ or ‘shared’. In our waking lives, we know what being connected means, but feeling connected is a much quieter, unphotogenic experience.
I genuinely believe that to have true connection with others we must first experience true connection to self. The route out is via in.
Club Med offers cosmic solitude in the company of like minds. We come together, close our eyes, meditate, and connect in this private-to-public spirit. Invert to extrovert.
Twice a month, a small group of us meet, usually online, for one hour.
Club Med meets today, 4pm AEST, then every second Sunday. Access is via here on Substack. If you'd like to join us, your first month is free. You do not need to know how to meditate to join.
I teach a functional, creative meditation technique and coach people to build the habit of a daily practice. If you’d like to know more about the offerings, visit the Supermuse website here. I post on Insta here.

Love this post Ghita, and this phrase: 'cosmic solitude in the company of like minds' – exactly what I crave. x
